This Women’s day, let’s remind ourselves how amazing our lives are irrespective of what our parents, workplace, patriarchy, or literally everyone says about us. We are a beautiful gender indeed, and things aren’t that dystopian. For this issue, we have curated movies, podcasts and stories that will help you appreciate the same.
Let your hair off today (or make it pretty) and celebrate, even if it’s just having a small pastry.
BioScope Thursdays
We will be screening a TED Talk - What Reality Are You by Isaac Lidsky
Every Thursday at 9 PM, we will be screening some very interesting movies/short films/videos/talks, across the world, especially book adapted ones! This is followed by an intellectual discussion on 3 points from the video.
About the TED Talk:
Reality isn’t something you perceive; it’s something you create in your mind. Isaac Lidsky learned this profound lesson firsthand when unexpected life circumstances yielded valuable insights. In this introspective, personal talk, he challenges the concept of cognitive dissonance, and encourages us to let go of excuses, assumptions and fears, and accept the awesome responsibility of being the creators of our own reality.
About Speaker:
Lidsky runs a big construction services company based in Florida, has co-founded an Internet startup and a nonprofit and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). He graduated in math and computer science from Harvard and then added a law degree magna cum laude from the same university, clerked for US Supreme Court Justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg and argued a dozen cases in federal court on behalf of the US Justice Department, not losing any. Earlier, he was a child television star in both commercials and series.
