Literature festivals - an amazing nerdy land that celebrates an amalgamation of art, music, films and of course books. Various art forms come together to remind us how creative we are as a species along with a plethora of ideas that are shared across domains.
We too had our first in 2021, a romance themed literature festival - With Love, in collaboration with Mithibai Literary Society and ThyBookBox. Merrative is also a community partner for the brilliantly curated - Delhi Literature Festival 2021.
We dedicate this issue focusing on the celebration of literature and curated some reads around the same.
BioScope Thursdays
We will be screening a TED Talk - The Long Reach of Reason by philosopher Rebecca Goldstein and Psychologist Steven Pinker
Every Thursday at 9 PM, we will be screening some very interesting movies/short films/videos/talks, across the world, especially book adapted ones! This is followed by an intellectual discussion on 3 points from the video.
About the TED Talk:
Here's a TED first: an animated Socratic dialogue! In a time when irrationality seems to rule both politics and culture, has reasoned thinking finally lost its power? Watch as psychologist Steven Pinker is gradually, brilliantly persuaded by philosopher Rebecca Newberger Goldstein that reason is actually the key driver of human moral progress, even if its effect sometimes takes generations to unfold. The dialogue was recorded live at TED, and animated, in incredible, often hilarious, detail by Cognitive.
About Speakers:
1. Rebecca Newberger Goldstein (Philosopher and writer)
Writes novels and nonfiction that explore questions of philosophy, morality and being.
2. Steven Pinker (Psychologist)
A professor of cognitive science (the study of the human mind) who writes about language, mind and human nature.

Ann Morgan considered herself well read — until she discovered the "massive cultural blindspot" in her bookshelf. Amid a multitude of English and American authors, there were very few works from authors beyond the English-speaking world. So she set an ambitious goal: to read one book from every country in the world over the course of a year. Now she's urging other Anglophiles to read translated works so that publishers will work harder to bring foreign literary gems back to their shores.
