BioScope Thursdays
Every Thursday, 9 PM, we will be screening some interesting short films/videos/talks across the world, especially book adapted ones. This is followed by an intellectual discussion on 3 points from the video.
We will be screening a TED Talk - Why is colonialism (still) romanticized?
Loved The Crown and the Jane Austen? Colonialism remains an inescapable blight on the present, lingering in the toxic, internalized mythologies and stereotypes that have outlived the regimes that created them, says historian Farish Ahmad-Noor. Examining why these prejudices and narratives persist (and sometimes thrive), he suggests a multidisciplinary approach to reject cultural obsessions with romanticized history and prevent this nostalgia from perpetuating past oppressions.

So after so many recommendations, the next question is - what should I read next? Short answer - pick up reads, podcasts that answer YOUR curiosity. The ones that define YOU.
We're encouraged to read so many books by other people, but the book we deep down really long to read is the one that could explain ourselves to ourselves. We want to read 'the book of me', a volume that could finally disclose who we are, what our direction should be, and why we feel as we do.
